So I guess we should start having weekly meetings. I really don't know how well this would work for everyone. So far I'm pretty sure only two members are going to be able to actually participate, and one of those members has drill practice.
I'd really like to have this figured out soon. I'm pretty sure I'm also going to stop recording minutes for anything but official meetings about future business. I mean, churches don't record minutes for Sunday service, but they do for business meetings. The computer club just doesn't happen to hold that many "official" meetings per se.
I'll figure it out.

We should be having a meeting sometime within the next two weeks. I need to confirm with the sponsor. If you have any suggestions for club activities, please e-mail me at jebug29@hotmail.com.
I'm planning on moving club meeting days to Wednesday.

Good gosh editing this website from school through telnet is not as nice of a process as I thought it would be. I really need to get my FTP server configured right (though at home it looks right to me. Ehhhh.)
Oh well. At least I found a Telnet/SSH client that works without having access to the command prompt.
I guess we'll be having a meeting the week after we get back from Thanksgiving break. I'll add it to the events page.

Things are happening! Good things! Hopefully not explosivey-catch-on-firey things. Basically, I've ordered parts to make a portable USB charger that we can make in the club. I'm hoping that maaaybe if we make these and they work well, then we can sell them as a fundraiser for club funds. Who knows? They cost about 3 bucks to get and make (not including batteries or the enclosure - added it would probably be around five bucks), and if we went to sell them I might would add a few more parts and sell it for around $10-15. Since I'm not too sure that we would have a huge appeal throughout the school (Moss Point's broke), we may even could sell them on eBay or Etsy or just in the community.

Speaking of which, I'm trying to think where we could head as far as community service projects go. We really don't have much there, and it would be nice to give members an opportunity to earn the hours. Really, though, I'm not so sure how well the community would mix with computers and such. Maybe we could just make a hotdog stand and give out free AOL floppy disks.

(That was a joke)

I FINALLY GOT A SPONSOR! THANK YOU, MS. HAMILTON!
So, yeah, um, I guess I'll have to start holding meetings...

I SHALL WORK ON THESE THINGS!

I have yet to renew the club, as I still haven't found a sponsor or a treasurer. Maybe I can have a meeting to discuss potential plans for the club before I actually get it renewed. I don't know.

(I need a sponsor so that I'll have a room to store the computers in....)

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year. Let's make it a great one!

I still have yet to find a sponsor. I will have to find one once the school year starts. Rest assured, I do plan on continuing computer club next year. If you have any ideas for computer club, please send them to jebug29@hotmail.com. This is my personal e-mail address. I cannot guarantee that I will reply, but I will read your message.

I also intend to join Key Club next year, but as far as I know that really shouldn't impact my ability to run the Computer Club. If I am not available for a meeting, I will either cancel it or have one of my club officers run it.

We are having a meeting this Thursday in Mrs. Cunnington's room after school! It will be to discuss the plans for next year. I'm inviting anyone who's interested in being in the club next year to show up.

If you go back and read the news archives, basically all that I'm doing is trying to get the club set up to run next year. Right now I need a sponsor and a treasurer. Since I haven't planned for anything that requires finances, I'm not looking for much in a treasurer. Still, I would like the sponsor to meet a few requirements:
- Must not be sponsoring any other clubs or programs
- Must be willing to stay at least Tuesday and Thursday of each week
- Does not have to be involved in the club activities, but does need to be able to store the computers.

That's really all I'm looking for in a sponsor. I don't need anyone to really "sponsor" the club per se, but I do need a teacher that's willing to supervise the meetings and keep the equipment in their classroom (without letting other students access it). It's definitely not the biggest role in the world, but it is one required by the school.

If Mrs. Cunnington does happen to come back next year, she will become the sponsor automatically, but that is not currently in her plans. I think I'll be able to find a sponsor fairly easily, but I don't know how hard it will be to get someone who isn't already doing other things in the evenings. I really don't want the club to become separate from the school, but if it has to be done, it has to be done.

I am starting on plans for next year's meetings. I may link to the text document of them on the events page (or here on the main page). I plan on hopefully buying the domain mpcclub.info either sometime soon or at the beginning of next school year, and this will be the website.

Soon there should be a downloads section, which will contain all of the works done by the computer club members (or at least the ones that want their work on the website). Next year I'm going to start up weekly challenges, where essentially each member will find out what they're doing during a physical meeting at the school one week, and then the week after (or possibly a few days after), we will hold a virtual meeting that night (via possibly Skype or some desktop-sharing software with mic support) where each person can show what he/she has made.

Of course none of the plans are set in stone, and I still have to find a sponsor and club officers (Paul and Brandon should remain secretary and vice president), but I do want to actually have some meetings planned out because I know my "spontaneous" meetings over the past two years have not been successful. Obviously there may be some changes to my plans next year (say if HTML 6 started being supported on major browsers, and I wanted to have a discussion and activity on that), but I want to have at least five planned physical meetings where I know what I'm doing and what I'm talking about.

I also have to come up with a backup plan in case I get sick or am unable to show up to a meeting. That was a problem this year for the first meeting when I got so sick that I could not come to school. Obviously the vice president is supposed to take over, but that's not always possible either. Whatever the situation, I'll figure it out.

The sponsor, Mrs. Cunnington, has told me previously that she likely will not return to the Moss Point school system next year. In that case, we are left without out sponsor, and another one will have to be found to continue the Computer Club at the school. This does not mean that the club will cease to exist, per se, but it does mean that there may be a delay in renewing it next year.

I also have to find a treasurer for next year. This year the role was supposed to go to Maliki Goodman, but the Computer Club admittedly failed. I take full responsibility for the 2013-14 failure of the club. It is not the fault of the sponsor or any other club officer, so I do apologize.

Understand that if I cannot find a sponsor next year, there is always the possibility of the club becoming private and separate from the school. However, I doubt that the club could exist long in this form, as I have no access to any other city buildings. Our meetings could continue over the internet (via video/audio conferences), but I doubt such meetings could hold much content. I will explore the possibility over the summer.

God bless you all, and I hope that the Computer Club can continue next year.
